How to: Add a colored border and shadow to a text box in a chart.
Solution:
Select the object, select 'Selected Object...' from the 'Format' menu, and click 'Pattern'.
1) Select the chart:
a) If the chart is embedded on the worksheet, double-click on the chart. (A striped border with handles appears around the chart.)
b) If the chart is on a separate chart sheet, click the tab for the chart sheet.
2) Click once on the desired text box.
3) Select the 'Format' menu and select 'Selected Object...'. (The Format Object dialog box appears.)
NOTE: If the text box is a chart title or axis title box, the 'Selected Chart Title...' or the 'Selected Axis Title...' command is displayed. After selecting the command, the 'Format Chart Title' or 'Format Axis Title' dialog box appears.
4) Click 'Pattern'.
5) Add a colored border:

a) Select the 'Custom' radio button in the 'Border' group.
b) Select the appropriate style for the border from the 'Style' drop-down list.
c) Select the desired color for the border from the 'Color' drop-down list.
d) Select the appropriate line weight for the border from the 'Weight' drop-down list.
6) Select the 'Shadow' check box to add a shadowing effect to the border.
NOTE: A border with the selected attributes is shown in the 'Sample' box at the lower right corner of the dialog box.
7) Click 'OK'.
